Bagandha yanggamba-ngga (Country Sings in Me) is an immersive 9-channel video and sound installation that explores the origins of traditional languages and the profound, reciprocal relationship between Country, human, and non-human kin. Developed through close collaboration and consultation with community Elders and custodians, the work features the Mudjingaal Yangamba Choir, honoring the intertwined connections of spirit, place, language, and song.
Presented at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra, NSW, the installation combines vocalisation and field recordings to create an evocative sonic environment where ancestral voices and natural soundscapes converge. The work invites viewers to listen deeply to the living presence of Country as it sings through language and song. Bagandha yanggamba-ngga resonates as a tribute to cultural continuity and the enduring bonds between people and their land.
